What’s hiding in Your Past?

It’s a rainy day. You are staring out the window. You suddenly realize that it is another one of those rare moments in your life and you are actually caught up on your responsibilities. Well, at least the ones you are willing to admit you may one day do. The other ones, well, they never get any attention. But it is raining outside and you are not interested in doing a puzzle. Here’s an idea…

Go through your book collection and go through your old photo frames. You have left a trail of your past life there. You may be surprised to see what is hidden.

Some old photo frames have held three or four photos of a different chapter in my life. Books can have all kinds of little notes, shopping lists, etc. You never know what you have hidden until you look. I have recovered over a dozen lost-to-time bookmarks, some of my favorites but forgotten.

Once I was talking to my wife, Carrie, when I reached in and grabbed eight volumes of high school yearbooks off of a shelf, four hers, four mine. We were packing to move to Mexico. An envelope fell to the ground. Since I held all eight books I was not certain which one it came from. But it had been there over forty years. I set the books aside and reached down for the envelope. It had a woman’s name on the front. We did not know the name. I opened the envelope. It had $10 inside. What? Why?

You see, you may have some mysteries lying around your home too. You should stop reading this and go check now. I would like a report back when you are through.
